GAUGER

Sensing actual data in the production process is essential for proper digitization. In many cases, data must be obtained from an existing PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) or connected to a manual machine.

GAUGER offers a solution in these situations.

WiFI/LAN connection

Connecting devices in operation can be considerably faster thanks to wireless connectivity. GAUGER is, therefore, equipped with a Wi-Fi module.

Industrial voltage power supply

Most industrial equipment operates with 24 V. The GAUGER can be powered with different voltage ranges, including 24 V. The voltage range is extensive, from 9 V up to 28 V.

Communication with PLC

Connecting to a specific device often offers two basic options:

There is a possibility of connecting directly to the PLC.

If this option is not available, the signals must be read differently.

GAUGER solves both of these possibilities by being able to communicate over Ethernet and read industrial 24V logic signals using standard inputs (NPN and PNP).

PLC monitoring and data acquisition in an automated production line

Scenario

A manufacturing plant optimizes its automated production line by monitoring performance and collecting data from various deployed PLCs.

Solution with Gauger

Connection to PLC: GAUGER connects to existing PLCs using an Ethernet cable. The device is configured via a web interface to communicate with the PLC and collect relevant data.

Wireless communication: Data is transmitted to the central server via Wi-Fi, eliminating the need for complex cabling.

Modbus Server: This data is then analyzed to optimize the manufacturing process.

Data Analysis: The data collected is used for performance monitoring, anomaly detection, and predictive maintenance, leading to more efficient and trouble-free production.

Monitoring manual machines in a small workshop

Scenario

A small workshop wants to digitize its processes and monitor manual machines to improve production monitoring and maintenance.

Solution with Gauger

Signal collection: The GAUGER is connected to the manual machines, which monitor and collect signals using 24V industrial logic (NPN/PNP inputs).

Wi-Fi connectivity: Data is transmitted wirelessly to the central system via Wi-Fi, making installation easier and reducing the need for cabling.

Configuration and management: Thanks to the web interface, Gauger can be easily configured and managed, simplifying integration into an existing workshop system.

Performance Analysis: Collected data is analyzed to monitor machine performance, enabling maintenance planning and minimizing downtime.

Collecting data from digital PLC outputs for production reporting

Scenario

A manufacturing plant's PLC system does not support Modbus for reading values, and modifying its code is impossible. However, data must be collected for production reporting and process optimization.

Solution with Gauger

Connection to PLC digital outputs: This easily circumvents the limitation where data is not accessible via Modbus.

Data collection from outputs: The GAUGER monitors the digital outputs and collects signals representing various states and events in the production process (e.g., start/stop, number of pieces produced, machine status, etc.).

Wireless communication: The collected data is transmitted to a central server via Wi-Fi, eliminating the need for complex cabling and ensuring fast and efficient data transfer.

Ethernet connectivity: alternatively, the GAUGER can be connected to the network via an Ethernet cable, ensuring stable and fast communication.

Configuration and management: GAUGER is configurable via a web interface, allowing easy setup and management of the device without the need for advanced technical knowledge.

Analysis and reporting: This data enables accurate production tracking, bottleneck identification, and production process optimization.

Web interface options for GAUGER

The GAUGER web interface makes setting various parameters to optimize its operation easy and intuitive. The user can enter the name of the installation, configure Ethernet and WiFi network settings, and deactivate the WiFi access point as needed. It is also possible to set the digital filter timing for the 4 inputs in detail, which includes specifying the time for switching to ON and OFF states in milliseconds. This ensures maximum flexibility and adaptability of the device to specific user requirements and conditions.

GAUGER API

GAUGER provides a powerful and flexible API that allows easy management and integration of devices into different systems. Using the API, you can quickly check the availability of the device, retrieve and update its configuration, upload new firmware versions, and even revert to previous versions.
There's also the ability to reboot the device, restore factory settings, reset counters, and get the latest logs and metadata about the device. These features ensure you can fully control and customize GAUGER to your needs, making it an indispensable tool for modern industrial applications.
