HARDWARIO and Statotest: Smarter Infrastructure Monitoring with IoT Technologies
Partnership with Statotest brings IoT-based structural monitoring to construction sites and critical infrastructure.
About Partners
HARDWARIO is a Czech technology company specializing in digital innovation. Advanced IoT solutions contribute to safer and more efficient operations across industrial and public infrastructure. With its modular design, the CHESTER platform performs reliably in demanding environments and delivers consistent, trustworthy data.
Statotest, based in Liberec, develops and deploys advanced systems for online structural monitoring. Their sensors continuously measure displacement, vibrations, and tilt, sending data to a cloud platform for immediate analysis. This enables early detection of anomalies and helps prevent dangerous situations compromising structural stability and public safety.
Both companies are headquartered in Liberec, and their proximity fosters seamless cooperation and technical integration. The result combines Statotest’s precision sensors with the universal CHESTER IoT platform, opening new opportunities for intelligent, reliable monitoring of bridges, retaining walls, and other structures.
The Challenge
Ensuring transportation and construction infrastructure safety is a key concern. Bridges, walls, and large structures are constantly exposed to stress and environmental effects. Traditional monitoring methods often require manual intervention, are expensive, and fail to provide real-time data, increasing risks of unexpected failures with potentially catastrophic consequences.
The Solution
Statotest’s system provides detailed, continuous monitoring. Their sensors detect even slight shifts and changes. Combined with CHESTER, this creates a comprehensive solution ensuring reliable data collection, wireless transmission, and instant evaluation.
The system monitors bridges for real-time stability, checks retaining walls for deformation signs, and monitors load conditions. CHESTER operates autonomously for years on battery power, withstands harsh conditions, and offers connectivity options expanding sensor capabilities. The system is flexible, easily scalable, and ready for any infrastructure project.
Case Studies
Liberec Swimming Pool
Before reconstruction, cracks in concrete and supporting column movement required monitoring. Three CHESTER units were installed for permanent measurements. Data is evaluated in the cloud, with automated alerts sent to personnel if problems occur.

Historic Town Hall in Ceska Lipa
The medieval town hall’s roof trusses were damaged by insects and fungal infestation. Because damage extent was unclear, permanent monitoring was prescribed. Six CHESTER units measure temperature and humidity in various roof parts, and three additional units monitor support movement and the tower. Values are continuously tracked, with alerts sent via SMS and email.

Vilemov Bridge
Near Sluknov in Vilemov, a bridge replacement occurred in 2020-21. The bridge owner contracted CTU Prague for five-year structure monitoring. Resistance dilatometers were installed at expansion joints, and strain gauges were embedded in both tracks. In total, 12 strain gauges and 12 dilatometers were installed, connected to six CHESTER units equipped with external sensors and paired thermometers.

Use of CHESTER SDK
Thanks to the open CHESTER SDK, Statotest writes customized firmware directly for specific application needs. HARDWARIO provides full support in firmware development.
Results
The partnership demonstrates how local expertise combined with modern IoT technologies fundamentally transforms infrastructure care. The result is reliable monitoring providing continuous oversight, instant alerts, and predictive analysis. Companies and institutions gain a powerful tool helping prevent issues before occurrence, protecting both structures and daily users.
“Our sensors deliver precise data on structural conditions, and in combination with the CHESTER platform, that data takes on an entirely new dimension,” states Petr Klokocnik, CEO of Statotest.
Pavel Hubner, CEO of HARDWARIO, adds: “The cooperation with Statotest is a great example of how local companies can connect and jointly deliver solutions with global impact.”
