HARDWARIO and Statotest: Smarter Infrastructure Monitoring with IoT Technologies

About partners

HARDWARIO is a Czech technology company at the forefront of digital innovation. Advanced IoT solutions contribute to safer and more efficient operations across industrial and public infrastructure. With its modular design, the CHESTER platform performs reliably even in the most demanding environments and delivers consistent, trustworthy data customers can depend on for the long term.

Statotest, based in Liberec, develops and deploys advanced systems for online structural monitoring. Their sensors continuously measure displacement, vibrations, and tilt, sending the data to a cloud platform for immediate analysis. This enables early detection of anomalies and helps prevent dangerous situations that compromise structural stability and public safety.

The partnership between these two companies also carries symbolic weight. Both are headquartered in Liberec, and their proximity fosters seamless cooperation and technical integration. The result is a unique combination of Statotest’s precision sensors and the universal CHESTER IoT platform, opening new opportunities for intelligent, reliable monitoring of bridges, retaining walls, and other structures.

The Challenge

Ensuring the safety of transportation and construction infrastructure is a key concern today. Bridges, walls, and large structures are constantly exposed to stress and environmental effects. Traditional monitoring methods often require manual intervention, are expensive, and fail to provide real-time data. This increases the risk of unexpected failures, which can have catastrophic consequences.

The Solution

Statotest has developed a system that provides detailed, continuous monitoring of structures. Their sensors detect even the slightest shifts and changes that would otherwise go unnoticed. Combined with the CHESTER platform, this creates a comprehensive solution that ensures reliable data collection, wireless transmission, and instant evaluation.

With this system, bridges can be monitored for real-time stability, retaining walls can be checked for early signs of deformation, and load conditions can be monitored to guarantee safe operations in projects such as the Liberec swimming pool.

CHESTER operates autonomously for years on battery power, withstands harsh conditions, and offers connectivity options that expand the capabilities of Statotest’s sensors. The entire system is flexible, easily scalable, and ready for deployment in any infrastructure project.

Case Studies

Liberec Swimming Pool

Before reconstruction, cracks in the concrete and the movement of supporting columns needed to be monitored. Three CHESTER units were installed for permanent measurements. Data is evaluated in the cloud, and automated alerts are sent to responsible personnel if problems occur.

Historic Town Hall in Česká Lípa

The medieval town hall's roof trusses were damaged by insects and fungal infestation. Because the full extent of the damage was unclear, the structural engineer prescribed permanent monitoring. Six CHESTER units measure temperature and humidity in various parts of the roof, and three additional units monitor the movement of supports and the tower. Values are continuously tracked, with alerts sent via SMS and email.

Vilémov Bridge

Near Šluknov, in the village of Vilémov, a unique replacement of a steel bridge took place in 2020–21. The bridge owner contracted CTU Prague to monitor the structure for five years. Resistance dilatometers were installed at expansion joints, and resistance strain gauges were embedded into both tracks. In total, 12 strain gauges and 12 dilatometers were installed, connected to six CHESTER units equipped with external sensors and paired thermometer

Results

The partnership between HARDWARIO and Statotest demonstrates how local expertise combined with modern IoT technologies can fundamentally transform how we care for buildings and infrastructure. The result is reliable monitoring that provides continuous oversight, instant alerts, and predictive analysis. Companies and institutions gain a powerful tool that helps prevent issues before they occur, protecting both structures and the people who use them daily.

“Our sensors deliver precise data on structural conditions, and in combination with the CHESTER platform, that data takes on an entirely new dimension. We greatly value our collaboration with HARDWARIO, which shows how IoT technology can elevate infrastructure monitoring to a higher level,” says Petr Klokočník, CEO of Statotest.

“The cooperation with Statotest is a great example of how local companies can connect and jointly deliver solutions with global impact. IoT and precision measurement are the foundation of safer infrastructure, and I’m glad we can contribute to this mission together,” adds Pavel Hübner, CEO of HARDWARIO.
