Yes, you can use your own NB-IoT/LTE-M SIM card. However, you have to think about running your own backend infrastructure. Alternatively, you can use a HARDWARIO SIM card or SIM chip in conjunction with HARDWARIO Cloud and the integration of the device with your service is done via REST API or via callback (webhook).

Which LoRaWAN networks does CHESTER support?

CHESTER supports private LoRaWAN networks (e.g. built by our EMBER platform) as well as networks operated by LoRaWAN operators (CRA, Starnet, TTN, etc.).

How do I access the data that CHESTER sends?

Which external devices can be connected to the CHESTER?

How are Modbus peripherals connected to CHESTER?

The condition is that the peripheral provides the Modbus RTU communication protocol via RS-485 interface. Another important condition is that the CHESTER must behave as MASTER and the peripheral as SLAVE. For integration we need the peripheral specification (datasheet), in particular a table of Modbus registers to be read together with the read interval specification. We will modify the CHESTER firmware for your application according to this data.

Can I sense pulses with CHESTER (dry contact)?

Yes, CHESTER will be complemented by the CHESTER-X0 module and you can set the configurable input as desired.

How long does the CHESTER run on battery power?

CHESTER is designed as a very low power consumption device. It is powered by a LiSoCl2 lithium primary cell with a nominal voltage of 3.6 V. This type of battery spontaneously loses only 3% of its capacity per year. By economical metering and communication setup, we can ensure a lifetime of several years. The run time for your specific application depends on the frequency of reading and sending data. Using external CHESTER-B battery modules, the capacity can be increased several times.

How do I find out if the installation site is covered by the LPWAN signal?

Preferably by asking the operator of the network in question. CHESTER is also offered as an CHESTER Signal to test NB-IoT/LTE-M signal quality.
